Charlie Parra del Riego – Procrastinacion/Procrastination
It is hard to fathom the speed and ferocity of what maybe the one of the best guitarists to have come out of South America in a long time. This album from front to back can only be described as “what Slash’s solo album should have been.” Plain and simple, you have one man, his Gibson Flying V cranked to 11, no vocals, just lightning fast solo after lightning fast solo (with an occasional Santana-esque guitar cry when you least expect it). Every song builds from other influential hard rock and metal guitarists of the 1970s and 1980s such as Metallica, Slash and Black Label Society and mixes it in with some Peruvian touches here and there including a rock version of Peru’s National Anthem. From heavy powerful hitting metal tracks to more upbeat rock tracks this album is for someone who’s ready to headbang and air guitar there way for 30 minutes straight.
Recommended tracks: 1,2, 3, 6, 8
RRYL: Slash, Metallica ,Megadeth, Slayer ,Anthrax, Santana, Cacophony, Black Label Society, Iron Maiden (during twin guitar solo sections)
